梅

梅は百花にさきがけて咲くと言われ、まだ寒い時期に花を咲かせて春の兆しを感じさせてくれます。

咲いた花だけでなく、古い苔むした枝や、ずばえと呼ばれる若い枝を一緒にいけることもあります。今が盛りの花だけでなく、未熟なもの、年老いたもの、命の様々な段階全てを愛おしむのがいけばならしい考え方です。

It is said that the plum blooms before all other flowers, and the blooming of plum flowers in the still cold season is a sign of spring.

Not only the blooming flowers, but also old mossy branches and young branches called zubae are sometimes arranged together. In Ikebana we love not only the flowers in their prime, but also the immature ones, the old ones, and all the various stages of life.
